Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Metals, Real Estate and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.76%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.75%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which rose 4.36% or 72.40 points to trade at 1,733.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 3.98% or 27.30 points to end at 712.40 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was up 3.22% or 12.95 points to 414.90 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH), which fell 1.17% or 80.50 points to trade at 6,780.20 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 0.74% or 40.05 points to end at 5,344.85 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) was down 0.67% or 18.55 points to 2,730.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 4.08% to 1,731.10, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 3.29% to settle at 415.00 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 2.73% to close at 1,685.00.

The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 0.44% to 1,809.40 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 0.36% to settle at 1,383.40 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 0.34% to 12,260.05 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1261 to 1241 and 24 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2056 rose and 1824 declined, while 144 ended unchanged.

(NS:HALC) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.98% or 27.30 to 712.40. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) rose to all time highs; rising 4.08% or 67.90 to 1,731.10.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.33% to 13.73.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.49% or 12.60 to $2,558.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.08% or 1.56 to hit $76.39 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.88% or 1.47 to trade at $79.62 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.10% to 83.89, while EUR/INR rose 0.50% to 93.74.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 100.67.
