DOGS, the popular Telegram meme coin, has paired up with Best Friends Animal Society to elevate funding for animal shelters and inspire the crypto community to support animal welfare causes.
In a joint press release, DOGS (DOGS) promised to play an active role in supporting the Utah-based non-profit’s No-Kill by 2025 Pledge, which aims to reach a minimum 90% save rate for animals entering shelters.
Over the next year, the TON-based meme coin will provide funding for animal shelters so that they can reach the no-kill rate by 2025, ensuring the safety of animals across America. In 2023, U.S. shelters have reached a save rate of 83%, having saved 3.97 million of the 4.76 million cats and dogs kept in shelters.
“The $DOGS Community has generously donated $150,000 to help pets like Rusty – who has been patiently waiting at our sanctuary in Kanab, Utah – find their way to loving families,” said the Best Friends Animal Society in a social media post.
Not only that, through this partnership, the DOGS mascot Spotty will become the official ambassador for Best Friends Animal Society. The black-and-white spotted dog will appear in events and marketing materials for the non-profit over the next year. Spotty was created by Telegram and VK founder Pavel Durov during a charity auction for orphaned children.
DOGS has also vowed to extend its support by funding one month of care for adopted dogs while encouraging the crypto community to do the same. In accordance with this new partnership, the DOGS team announced its plans to unveil a new platform focused on helping non-profits across the globe to get funding. The release stated that details on eligibility and application procedures regarding the platform will be shared soon.
Founder of DOGS, Andrew, stated that the token’s partnership with Best Friends Animal Society serves as a “call to action” for the crypto community to support animal welfare, starting with efforts to make the 90% no-kill benchmark a reality by 2025.
“Together, we’re showing how blockchain innovation and compassion can unite to transform lives — not only for animals but for the families who embrace them.”
Since its launch in August 2024, DOGS has partnered with several charitable organizations, raising more than $450,000 for causes such as Save the Orphans, Save the Children, Animal Charity Evaluators, and cancer research.
