Derek Jeter’s
former penthouse at Trump World Tower in New York City has hit the market for $16.5 million.

The 5,380-square-foot apartment, located in a Trump-branded building opposite the U.N. in Manhattan, is just 35 minutes from Yankee Stadium, which would have made for an easy commute for the former shortstop, who spent his entire 20-year career with the New York Yankees.

“It’s really breathtaking,” said listing agent Gisela Vergara of Corcoran, who is handling the sale alongside colleagues Shawn Felker and William Pride. “You walk in its triple exposure, floor-to-ceiling windows.”

With views to the east, south and west, the penthouse takes in many of the city’s most iconic sights, from rivers and bridges to the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center and the Chrysler Building, Vergara said.

“From every room you’re seeing landmarks,” she said. In “every bedroom, the office, the kitchen—it’s truly outstanding.”

Jeter, 49, owned the home for more than a decade, having bought the place in 2001 for a reported $12.72 million and sold it in 2012 for $15.5 million to the current owner, a limited liability company who couldn’t be reached for comment, according to records with PropertyShark.

“People always love [when] celebrities give the stamp of approval,” Vergara said. “It does attract interest—it’s a great dinner party conversation, another wow factor.”

The four-bedroom home, which has been completely remodeled, has an open-plan living, entertaining and dining area; a separate eat-in kitchen with two separate beverage fridges and a central island.

The bedrooms are divided into two wings. While the primary suite, complete with East River views and a marble bathroom, is in one wing, along with another bedroom, the other is home to the guest suite and the fourth bedroom, which is being used currently as an office.

During his lengthy career, Jeter was a five-time World Series champion and won five Gold Glove Awards, five Silver Slugger Awards and had 14 All-Star selections. He retired from baseball in 2014, and until last year was a part owner of the MLB’s Miami Marlins.
