Skate, a unified liquidity platform whose infrastructure layer powers a cross-chain virtual machine environment, has launched the first automated market maker protocol that will operate across the top blockchains.

According to an announcement, Skate AMM allows users to navigate applications across all the top virtual machine, or VM, environments, including Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and TON Blockchain (TON). That means users on an SVM chain can interact seamlessly with native apps on an EVM or TonVM chain.

It’s an interoperability milestone that could see the decentralized finance ecosystem record fresh, accelerated innovation and adoption.

On top of EVM, SolanaVM and TonVM, Skate AMM runs across the VM environments of Sui, Movement and Eclipse among others. Support for the cross-VM interaction happens while users benefit from unified liquidity and pricing.

With legacy AMMs hindered as a monolithic design means they are siloed on one supported chain. That sees each new chain forced to bootstrap their own AMM, with liquidity providers having to split capital, resulting in poor pricing and slippage.

Skate AMM looks to address thi with a stateless design that means multi-chain and multi-VM support.

Rather than fragmented liquidity and pricing, the AMM brings a canonical liquidity state and hub into play. Users can tap into liquidity from any of the supported chains, with actively validated services operators offering security via the economic trust of Ethereum restaking protocol Eigenlayer.

According to the Skate team, separation of core AMM logic from asset custody results in unified liquidity and better pricing. Users’ assets stay on the native chain, thereby eliminating bridging risks.

While this means “deeper liquidity, less slippage and better pricing” for traders, for LPs the implications include the potential for better fee revenue, greater user experience and higher capital efficiency.

Skate AMM will benefit users across Mantle, Hyperliquid, Berachain, Monad, Arbitrum, Story Protocol, Sonic SVM, SOON, ZKSync and Aptos.
