Every few months, the rankings of the top ten crypto assets shift, and a year ago, the leading digital currencies were different from today. Some assets have moved to new positions, new entrants have emerged, and some have dropped out of the top ten.

Yearly Crypto Market Update Reveals New Entrants and Price Fluctuations

In July 2022, the top ten crypto assets were bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), tether (USDT), usd coin (USDC), binance coin (BNB), binance usd (BUSD), ripple (XRP), cardano (ADA), solana (SOL), and dogecoin (DOGE). A year later, the lineup had changed, although the top three remained the same.

In July 2023, BNB secured the fourth spot, trading at $234 per coin. Today, BNB remains in the same position, trading at $509 per coin. In 2023, USDC was in the fifth spot, but now solana (SOL) holds that position.

Top ten crypto assets in terms of market caps on July 9, 2023, according to coinmarketcap.com’s historical records.

Last year, solana (SOL) was ranked ninth, priced at $21.35 per unit. Its price has since risen significantly to $138 per coin. XRP, which was sixth last year, is now seventh as USDC has moved to the sixth spot in market cap rankings. XRP’s price has decreased from $0.46 to $0.43 per unit.

Cardano (ADA) held the seventh spot in July 2023 and has now moved to the tenth position. Cardano’s price has increased from $0.284 to $0.367 per ADA. As of July 9, 2024, XRP occupies the seventh spot. Last year, dogecoin (DOGE) was in eighth place, but it has now dropped to ninth. Last year, DOGE was priced at $0.065 and has since increased to $0.106 per coin.

A new entrant in the top ten is toncoin (TON), previously known as GRAM, now holding the eighth-largest market cap. TON was ranked 15th in July 2023, trading at $1.36, and its current price is approximately $7.12 per coin. The asset that fell out of the top ten is litecoin (LTC), which was in the tenth spot last year and has now dropped to the 21st position.

It is noteworthy that in 2013 and 2014, and during the early days, coins like XRP and LTC were major contenders against BTC. LTC held the second position for a considerable time, and XRP maintained the third, fourth, and fifth spots for years.

While XRP remains in the top ten, LTC is far from reclaiming its former rank. XRP has continued to decline significantly in the top ten standings. LTC was $95.18 per coin last year and is currently trading at $64.67 per coin.
