San Francisco — The Graph, a leading indexing and query protocol for organizing blockchain data, is ushering in a “New Era” with a user-centric approach that extends beyond subgraphs, introducing a robust marketplace of data services on the network. This transformative shift includes the introduction of Large Language Models (LLM), new query languages, verifiable data, and groundbreaking features to empower developers and drive innovation across Web3 applications.

The “New Era” of The Graph represents a significant advancement in creating a unified, interconnected graph of data that empowers the entire Web3 ecosystem, benefitting both users and developers alike. The comprehensive roadmap outlined by The Graph Foundation focuses on five core objectives:

Expanding Data Services: The Graph aims to broaden its range of data services to cater to diverse Web3 use cases.
Empowering Developers: Enhanced tooling and a more intuitive user experience will unlock novel ways to access Web3 data.
Protocol Resilience and Efficiency: Improvements will make the protocol more robust, flexible, and efficient.
Indexer Performance: Enhancements to boost Indexer performance and reduce on-chain costs.
Composable Data and Knowledge Graph: The Graph aims to create tools for composable data and an organized knowledge graph.

Tegan Kline, CEO of Edge & Node, commented on The Graph’s evolution, saying, “The Graph introduced and standardized subgraphs as the quintessential way to index and query blockchain data all across Web3. With the New Era of The Graph, we are making The Graph’s position in the Web3 stack even clearer.”
“The Graph has been called the Google of Web3 for its indexing capabilities – with the development of innovative and diverse data use cases, The Graph will surpass comparison to the legacy web, solidifying The Graph as the go-to protocol for all data needs now and in the future.”

The “New Era” promises enhanced user experiences with the introduction of Firehose and Substreams, verifiable data, AI-assisted querying using LLMs, and the provision of Files and Archive Data. These improvements aim to ensure data consistency, reduce on-chain Indexer costs, and bring greater efficiency to the protocol.

In tandem with the “New Era,” The Graph is launching the Sunrise of Decentralized Data initiative, offering cost-free migration to the network, support for all hosted service chains, and access to a new free query plan. Additionally, a network upgrade named “Graph Horizon” will make the protocol more user-friendly, cost-effective, and permissionless.

Eva Beylin, Director of The Graph Foundation, expressed her excitement, stating, “The release of the new R&D roadmap symbolizes the beginning of the New Era of The Graph. Incredible innovations are being worked on that will fundamentally change how people interact with Web3 data.
“The Graph Network will be the definitive platform for all data use cases with the most diverse and comprehensive data in Web3.”

Eva Beylin, Director of The Graph Foundation
The Graph Foundation plays a vital role in fostering growth for The Graph Network, with oversight from The Graph Council. Within The Graph ecosystem, organizations like Edge & Node, Geo, GraphOps, Messari, Pinax, Semiotic, StreamingFast, and The Guild work collaboratively to advance the Web3 data landscape.
