Metaplanet has established a Strategic Board of Advisors and named Eric Trump as its first member to help drive Bitcoin adoption.

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has launched a new advisory board and brought in Eric Trump as its first member, saying the move is part of its push to expand in the Bitcoin (BTC) space and strengthen its position as a treasury firm.

Eric Trump, known for his work in real estate and finance, is expected to bring business expertise to the board to help “building one of the world’s leading Bitcoin Treasury Companies,” the firm’s chief executive Simon Gerovich announced in an X post on Friday.

According to Metaplanet’s press release, the new board will include “influential voices, speakers and thought leaders from around the world who are committed to furthering the Bitcoin mission and advancing financial innovation.”

Metaplanet didn’t reveal specific details on what role Trump would play, but said his appointment “reflects Metaplanet’s commitment to assembling top-tier advisory talent to advance its strategic objectives.” The firm also pointed out it’s still expanding its Bitcoin holdings and working on new financial products, though it didn’t provide further information.

Besides Bitcoin, Eric Trump also seems to have an interest in Ethereum (ETH) too. Back in early February, when ETH was trading around $2,900, he posted on X, calling it “a great time to add Ethereum” and even adding a “thank me later.”

That X post didn’t age well though. About five weeks later, ETH dropped more than 30% to $1,900, and it looks like Trump may have had second thoughts as he quietly went back and deleted the “thank me later” from the post.
