Binance’s mining pool platform announced it is now distributing rewards denominated in a memecoin created by Dogecoin (DOGE) creator Billy Markus.

Binance Pool says it has now launched Bellscoin (BEL) merged mining.

The mining platform’s users can now mine Litecoin and earn rewards in LTC, BEL or DOGE.

Markus created the Animal Crossing-inspired Bellscoin in 2013, eight days before Dogecoin launched, according to the project’s website. It was revived in 2023.

Explains the Bellscoin website,

“Bells coin has no association with ‘Animal Crossing’ of Nintendo. This coin is simply paying homage to a meme we all love and recognize. Bells is a meme coin with no intrinsic value or expectation of financial return. There is no formal team or roadmap. The coin is completely useless and for entertainment purposes only.”

Despite being offered as a mining reward, Bellscoin is not currently listed on Binance for trading.

BEL is trading at $0.903 at time of writing. The 721st-ranked crypto asset by market cap is down more than 5% in the past 24 hours.

DOGE is trading at $0.115 at time of writing. The 9th-ranked crypto asset by market cap is down more than 8.5% in the past day.

LTC is trading at $66.73 at time of writing. The 25th-ranked crypto asset by market cap is down nearly 4% in the past 24 hours.
