Former US President and current Republican nominee Donald Trump just used Bitcoin (BTC) to buy burgers for his supporters.

On Wednesday, Trump visited a crypto-themed bar called PubKey in Manhattan, New York City to convene with with members of the digital asset industry ahead of his run for president in November.

A video shared by Fox News on YouTube shows Trump performing a Bitcoin transaction on a phone during the campaign stop.

When asked about the transaction, Trump said it was easy to complete the payment.

According to details shared by PubKey on social media platform X, the presidential nominee paid 1,659,618 satoshis (Sats) worth $998.77. The bill was for the “crypto burgers” that were distributed to the event’s attendees.

Pubkey says the event is the establishment’s first presidential visit.

“One of the most historic transactions in Bitcoin history was just made. President Trump buying burgers at PubKey with [investor Thomas Pacchia].

Trump also sought support for his re-election bid with assurance that he will have a friendly stance on crypto.

“We want to get everybody that agrees with you people, what you’re doing, there’s a lot of people, and they’ve been treating you very badly at the SEC. We’re going to treat you very fairly. You have to get out and vote.”
